Is the WTS effectively 'pimping out' sisters?
by Simon ini can't remember the topic with the discussion about the talk where they suggested that sisters should only consider ministerial servants as potential marriage partners but think about the implications more.. are they trying to use the potential affections of sisters to enourage brothers to do more and work harder?.
isn't this a form of 'pimping out' the sisters by limiting their attention to the people contributing to them?.
it seems to cross a line to me but i guess it's not vastly different to "only marry another jw".. what do you think?.

Hi Kate
I felt really bad when I read your comment about professionals being intollerant towards your problems. We get many medical shows on Australian TV from the UK and the impression we get is that they have a fantastic medical system over there. But then, shows on TV are probably not always accurate.
You may send me a personal message if you wish to. I have been well supported in adjusting to my diagnosis of Aspergers. I was 50 when I was diagnosed, due to my daughters problems. I am learning to cope better now. if there is anything I can do to assist you, please contact me.

My daughter and I have both been diagnosed with Aspergers. My daughter has sensory problems, one of them being the feel of clothing. Getting her dressed for a meeting is impossible especially if she has to wear appropriate meeting clothes. She was bullied at school by an elders child as well as other kids. We took her out of the school and put her into another school where she is not doing great, but is doing much better. We did not report the bullying to the elder regarding his child as they would say there were not two witnesses, which is true and they would say that their child is on the ministry school, answers in meetings, goes in field circus, etc., etc., etc. What is our child doing? Other kids in the cong shun her because she is a bit unusual and they are working toward baptism, so they are better than her.
The elders came about two years ago and once they knew what our problems were, they lost interest in us. A sister came to our house during door to door work recently and I was friendly to her. She brought me back one of the new bibles and I have not seen her since. My guess is that she told the brothers who she met and they have told her not to bother with us, we are in the "too hard basket".
My daughter and I are managing OK with help from mental health services. If my experience has taught me anything, it is that there is more to mental health issues than meets the eye. Depression, autism, bipolar, multiple personality disorder and other problems are a real challenge for the sufferer and their families on a daily basis. My husband's sister has multiple personality disorder and is disfellowshipped. She told the elders that she cannot study etc. to come back. We told an elder that and his response was that she could if she wanted to. I agreed at the time, this was about eight years ago. I cannot disagree more with him now. I have learned so much in the past two years about myself as well as my daughter.
Not attending meetings means one less stress in my life which is good. I was also on the edge socially in the cong as a child. I have never been great socially, but have found over the years that so called worldly people, generally are a bit more tolerant to imperfection than witnesses. That is my experience anyway.

What about Tony being interviewed by Barbara Anderson. She would know what to ask.
Only problem is she is DF'd therefore he would shun her!

I was almost 38 when I married my non MS husband who was 44 at the time. First marriage for both of us.
We are very happy 14 years later and have both faded, actually happier now than ever.
Position means nothing, happiness means everything. Life in this world is too short to marry the wrong person.

Over 1,000,000 in attendance and you are worried about tight pants?
by Separation of Powers inyou know, rarely in the history of the org has a group this large congregated to hear from "mother.
" they incessantly speak of the huge group that met at yankee stadium in 1958...the over 250,000 that congregated to be instructed by jehovah.
but over the weekend, there were over 1,000,000 people excited to hear some type of direction, some type of encouragement, something to help them hang on "just a little longer.".

by sir82 ini will have plenty of "snark" to post later on, but please indulge me while i get this out of my system..... suppose you are the leaders...yes, the leaders...there are only 7 of you...for the one true religion in all the universe.. jehovah the god of the whole universe speaks to you, you alone, out of 7 billion+ people on teh planet.. you have an opportunity, thanks to the advancements in technology, to speak to 750,000 of your followers "live", and another 750,000 or so within 24 hours.. 1.5 million people!
hanging on your every word!.
this is the first time in history you can simultaneously, or nearly simultaneously, address so many of your adherents.. what message are you going to present for this special occasion?.

Thanks Phizzy for clarifying that for me, that JW's worship the GB.
From being on this site and others and from listening to my mother-out-law, a full on JW, I thought that must be the case.
My now deceased father used to say, "Focus on Jehovah. Man will always disappoint, Jehovah will never disappoint".

I don't mean to be a party pooper or anything, but was there any mention of Jehovah at this zone visit talk thing?
Perhaps if everyone, especially the GB focused on what the religion is supposed to be about, the worshipping of Jehovah, then all
other things will fall into place.
I haven't been to a meeting since the memorial of 2013, so am not sure, do they still worship Jehovah or are the priorities changing?

Don't bother reading this is good enough reason for me to read it. It is like heading something as private or confidential, you are guaranteed an enthusiastic reading audience.

I just read Auntconnie's comment about being a CO's wife. Would love to show that to the mother-in-law. Problem is, she wouldn't read it and even if she did, she would not believe it was a CO's wife.
What an agonising time she is going to have in the circiit work or maybe the adulation will be enough to keep her going. You never know, she may meet an attractie, sexy brother in the circuit and run off with him. Wouldn't be the first time!
